Transdev Celebrates National Safety Month by Reinforcing Its Culture of Safety

At Transdev, safety is more than a priority; it’s a fundamental part of our culture and a shared responsibility across all levels of our organization. In honor of National Safety Month, we are proud to highlight the ongoing efforts we take to ensure the health and safety of our employees, passengers, and the communities we serve every day.

Perfect Safety Day

Zero accidents. Zero injuries. Zero regrets.

Our safety-first mindset is supported by robust training, consistent reinforcement, and a focus on continuous improvement. One of our flagship initiatives is the Perfect Safety Day campaign, which celebrates days without a preventable motor vehicle accident, a passenger or pedestrian injury requiring transport to the hospital, and an OSHA-recordable employee injury. These achievements are more than milestones, they are a reflection of our shared commitment to operating safely and responsibly.

far this year, we are proud of the 29 Transdev locations that have collectively achieved 120 Perfect Safety Days, a true testament to our teams’ dedication and vigilance!

Continuous Training Programs

Continuously Finding New Learning Opportunities

To support our frontline teams, we offer comprehensive standardized training programs designed to build a strong safety foundation. These training programs include an industry-leading defensive driving program that is continuously updated to reflect evolving safety standards. Transdev also offers a wide array of specialized safety training programs tailored to the needs of each location and client. These include Safety Manager Training, Road Supervisor Training, Smith System Certification, Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT), Start-Up Incumbent Training, and more, all designed to reinforce safe behaviors and ensure operational excellence across our network.

This safety-first mindset extends to our cutting-edge work in autonomous vehicle operations as well. Our Transdev Alternative Services (TAS) team has led the charge in the public road testing of autonomous vehicles (AVs) for more than six years. During that time, they’ve trained thousands of AV operators through a dedicated defensive driving program specifically tailored to the unique demands of AV environments. The training focuses on key skills like defensive driving, understanding AV technology capabilities, and knowing how to respond appropriately in real-time scenarios, ensuring the same high safety standards are upheld across both emerging and traditional mobility services.

As part of our ongoing commitment to safety, Transdev shares weekly internal safety messages and conducts regular safety meetings to reinforce key principles and share best practices for practicing safety both on and off the clock. Throughout June, in support of the National Safety Council’s National Safety Month campaign, we’ve expanded these efforts by sharing additional resources like videos, articles, and training opportunities. We’ve also integrated our Golden Rules of Safety, a clear, company-wide framework outlining the non-negotiable safety behaviors every employee is expected to follow. Rooted in Transdev Group’s global safety principles, these rules help reinforce a unified and consistent safety culture across all our operations.

Our commitment to safety extends beyond traditional operations and into the future of mobility.  By utilizing technology including cameras and driver data analytics platforms, we’re able to identify coaching opportunities, support driver development, and highlight excellence behind the wheel. This year, we were especially proud to celebrate our Lytx Driver and Coach of the Year award winners, who were recognized for being top performers across the country. These individuals exemplified the professionalism, safety awareness, and leadership that are central to our culture and operations. By embracing technology and leveraging coaching opportunities, our fleets are able to deliver real-time feedback, prevent risky behaviors, and help ensure the safety of everyone in and around our vehicles.

At Transdev, National Safety Month is a great moment to celebrate our collective safety accomplishments and also recommit ourselves to protecting the people in our communities year-round. From training and technology to innovation and teamwork, safety drives everything we do.
