Transdev’s expertise around the world includes 30 major rail networks on five countries.

Operations & Maintenance of Streetcar and Light Rail

We are the global leader in the operations of light rail, including streetcar and tramway networks. We are committed to implementing and delivering on light rail solutions to support the renewal of city centers and the development of regional networks. In the U.S, our streetcar operations in Cincinnati and Milwaukee are two of our U.S. examples where our expertise of how we are leading the way is on full display.

Operations and Maintenance of Heavy Rail and Metro

Transdev has over 20 years of Rail Operations experience with 30 rail networks and 810 trains across five countries. We have solid expertise in managing and coordinating the transport modes between all of our various types of rail lines (inter-regional, suburban and rural, tourist). We also operate metro in France, where we are the operator of the metro line at Roissy Charles-de-Gaulle. We have solid international experience with classic and all-electric metro systems.

Infrastructure Maintenance

In the U.S., Transdev has provided maintenance-of-way (MOW) services for some of the largest systems in the country, including California, Massachusetts, and Florida. We offer a fully integrated team skilled at managing projects quickly and efficiently to minimize operational service disruptions. Through decades of experience, Transdev’s rail maintenance and infrastructure team have constructed and maintained more than 6,000 miles of rail in the U.S.—enough to cross the continent twice. Our state-of-the-art equipment and dedication to safety help projects finish on time and on budget.

Cincinnati Streetcar – The Connector

Connecting communities and people through innovative solutions

In 2016, Cincinnati partnered with Transdev to launch its new, fully electric streetcar line connecting the Banks area, the Over-The-Rhine neighborhood, and the Central Business District areas. The new connections helped support the vibrancy of its bustling downtown area using a 3.6-mile loop. The Connector is beloved by residents and provides more than 1 million passenger trips each year.

Cincinnati’s streetcar continues to break ridership records!

A Commitment to our Strong “Safety First” Culture

The safety of our employees, passengers, and communities we serve remain our highest priority at Transdev – and our Rail teams take this responsibility seriously.

  • Self-Reporting Close Calls and Near Accidents
We set the expectation and tone. Operators and technicians are comfortable reporting mistakes for further examination. They do so without fear of penalty or retribution to work toward a common goal: the safest environment possible.
  • Good Faith Challenges

All operators and maintenance technicians are empowered to, at any time, refuse to perform—without fear of punishment or retribution—any act they may deem unsafe and not in the best safety interests of the operation.

Beyond our commitment to providing our operators and technicians with vigorous training, our focus on safety includes the safety of our employees, subcontractors, the public, freight and passenger train operating crews, and passengers.
