Operating Special Care Transportation

Transdev operates paratransit and non-emergency medical transportation contracts across the country including in Atlanta, Baltimore, Phoenix, Long Island, Washington, DC and Denver.

We are helping our clients meet the simultaneous challenges of increased ridership due to a large aging population, plus higher passenger expectations and tighter budgets. We continually strive to achieve the right balance between service quality and rigorous management of costs; a challenge inherent in the paratransit business.

Targeted training based on the unique operating environments and passengers in each community we serve. Operators learn the importance of their role while giving them the confidence and knowledge to anticipate the wide array of passenger needs.

Service efficiency and improved productivity through creative solutions, such as active dispatching, and utilizing vehicles in low activity periods and running route deviations in low density areas.

Administration and oversight that includes an open and respectful relationship with labor relations. We support clients on collective bargaining negotiations, FTA Triennial reviews and local audits to guarantee best practices and processes are in place at all times.

Full Service Brokerage Management Solutions

Through our IntelliRide team, we manage transportation call centers, oversee booking and scheduling services, and deliver passenger trips using multiple local transportation providers such as taxis, community van pools and more.

IntelliRide uses the brokerage model in its contracts with multiple public transit agencies including San Francisco, Oakland, Pittsburgh and more. We also provide brokerage management services to Medicaid agencies and Managed Care Organizations for the States of Nebraska, Hawaii, and the City of Detroit.

As of June 2018, Transdev began operating the command and dispatch center in Boston that will eventually bring all three service providers into one streamlined, efficient platform to increase passenger comfort and service quality.

Delivering the Next Generation of Paratransit

Today, we are part of a movement to improve paratransit operational logistics and service delivery. Together with our clients, Transdev delivers access to new on-demand platforms that connect riders with vehicles far more quickly and efficiently. Passengers can make and change reservations via call centers, or web and mobile sites.

Real-time texts or phone updates inform passengers and care givers on the status and timing of passenger pick-ups. Tablets on board vehicles and at key drop-off and pick-up locations ensure more effective real-time coordination and management of schedule changes, which are inherent in the service delivery process. Improved routing algorithms ensure that routes are maximized for efficiency and get drivers to doors more quickly.

Focus on operator training

Based on the location, our operators experience the same level of rigorous training as our bus operators. This includes graduating from our Operator Development Program: 120 hours of training with 80 hours of that on the road.

As evidence of our commitment to safety as our No. 1 priority, Transdev trains operators in all the important details of operating paratransit vehicles that make big differences to passengers. This includes wheelchair securements, safe usage of wheelchair lifts and ramps and how to interact with passengers to ensure they feel safe through every mile. It’s this attention to detail that helps our paratransit operations earn consistently positive customer service scores.
