French Consul General Caroline Monvoisin Visits Fairfax Connector Facility to Explore Sustainable Mobility Efforts

On October 10, the Fairfax Connector bus facility in Fairfax, Virginia, welcomed a distinguished international guest: Caroline Monvoisin, the Consul General of France in Washington, D.C. Her visit highlighted the growing collaboration between French and American stakeholders in advancing sustainable transportation solutions.

Joining Consul General Monvoisin were Denis Chazelle, Executive Director of the French American Chamber of Commerce, and representatives from the French Embassy’s Department of Commerce and Economy. The delegation was greeted by Anne Carey, Transdev’s newly appointed Area General Manager, who led the group through a comprehensive tour of the facility.

The visit began with a photo opportunity in front of the facility’s newest electric buses, showcasing Transdev’s commitment to fleet electrification. The delegation then met with the maintenance team, led by Barry Goldman, Transdev Fairfax Director of Maintenance, to learn more about the electric buses and charging infrastructure.

Next, the group visited the Bus Operations Control Center, accompanied by Anne Carey and Transdev Huntington General Manager Alex Cournol, where they gained insight into the operational backbone of the Fairfax Connector system.

The visit concluded with an overview presentation of Fairfax Connector’s operations and sustainability initiatives, delivered by Transdev’s local leadership team, including Barry Goldman, Kevan Danker, Kody Stalin, and Alex Cournol.

Special thanks to Shawn Free, Transdev General Manager of the West Ox facility, for hosting this unique event and providing a behind-the-scenes look at the future of public transportation.

This visit came at a special time for the Fairfax Connector, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary in October. Since its first ride in 1985, the Fairfax Connector has grown into one of Northern Virginia’s most trusted and valued public transportation systems. Transdev is proud to have been part of this journey and to celebrate the dedication of the many employees and operators who have made the Connector’s success possible.
