Transdev Extends University Shuttle Footprint with Renewed Contracts Across the U.S.
Transdev is growing its presence in the university transportation space with a trio of recent contract renewals at Chapman University, Clemson University, and the University of Minnesota. These latest agreements underscore Transdev’s unmatched expertise in providing tailored, flexible, and high-performing shuttle systems for campus communities nationwide.
With over 32 active university shuttle contracts and a dedicated team focused exclusively on higher education clients, Transdev has become the go-to partner for colleges and universities looking for more than just a transportation provider but strategic advisors and operational experts.
Chapman University
Advancing Flexible Campus Transit
Transdev is excited to continue operating and enhancing its campus shuttle system in Orange, California, effective June 1, 2025, with Chapman University. The new three-year agreement, with two optional one-year extensions, builds on a successful foundation that has already delivered over 71,000 rides in just six months. Transdev operates a fleet of 19 university-owned vehicles powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) and gasoline. Supported by 19 drivers and three additional staff, the service is designed for flexibility and responsiveness to Chapman’s evolving academic needs. Looking ahead, Transdev plans to introduce advanced scheduling tools, explore autonomous capabilities, and leverage synergies with other local operations, reinforcing both organizations’ commitment to sustainable, student-focused mobility.
Clemson University
Renewing a Trusted Partnership
Clemson University has renewed its relationship with Transdev to continue operating the Tiger Transit system through a seven-year base contract, with four additional option years. As part of the contract, Transdev will procure 13 new Gillig diesel buses to enhance Clemson’s fleet. With 23 drivers and seven support staff, the Transdev team plays an integral role in supporting daily campus mobility and long-term fleet planning.
University of Minnesota
Scaling Service for a Large Campus
On July 1, Transdev continued managing operations and maintenance for the University of Minnesota’s campus shuttle system – one of the largest and most complex in the country. The system spans both Minneapolis and St. Paul, supported by 37 vehicles (including hybrids and cutaways), 38 drivers, and 25 additional staff.
A Partner Built for the Campus Environment
Transdev understands that university transit is fundamentally different from public transportation. Academic schedules, fluctuating demand, and frequent charter needs require flexibility, foresight, and strong operational planning. It’s why Transdev has invested in a dedicated business line for university services, giving clients access to teams who truly understand the rhythms and challenges of campus life. From vehicle procurement and maintenance to electric fleet planning and charter support, Transdev continues to set the standard for university shuttle operations.
