Transdev Celebrates National Military Appreciation Month with Pride and Purpose

As we proudly recognize National Military Appreciation Month this May, Transdev is taking the time to honor and thank the courageous veterans who have served our country and now serve our communities through their roles in our organization. From their unwavering commitment to service to the leadership they bring every day, our veteran employees embody the values we hold dear at Transdev.

Transdev distributed custom Veteran Pins to team members across the country who have served in the armed forces to commemorate this month. These pins are a small but heartfelt symbol of our respect and gratitude.

Among our many incredible veterans, we are honored to spotlight two individuals whose journeys from military to civilian service continue to inspire: Lisa Roman and Abel Lilly.

Lisa Roman

Project Management Office (PMO) Manager

U.S. Army Veteran

Roman served in the 82nd Airborne Division, 782nd Main Support Battalion as an Automated Logistical Specialist – one of just 500 women in a predominantly male force of 10,000. Inspired by a family legacy of military service, including her sister, a U.S. Air Force Security Police Officer, Roman joined the Army to be part of something bigger than herself. She quickly became an integral part of her unit’s logistics operations, managing supply chains and coordinating essential support functions.

Her military background instilled in her a passion for leadership, teamwork, and preparedness – principles she now applies in her daily role as the PMO Manager at Transdev’s corporate office. After leaving the military, Roman worked as a global instructor for military software systems before finding her place at Transdev, a company whose mission is to serve communities deeply resonated with her.

Roman sees herself as a servant leader, someone who leads by empowering others, encouraging open dialogue, and prioritizing team development. She joined Transdev full-time in April 2025, and today, she draws personal pride from knowing her work helps communities, including her own son, who uses Transdev-operated buses while attending college in Portland.

Her message to fellow veterans? “Ask questions, connect with others, and lean into the culture here. Transdev supports service members beyond the uniform.”

Abel Lilly

Director, HR Rewards Systems and Analytics

U.S. Marine Corps Veteran

Lilly now brings that same dedication and attention to detail to his role at Transdev. As Director of HR Rewards Systems and Analytics, he’s led complex initiatives such as the national 401(k) plan rollout and a full payroll system transition. His military values of honor, courage, and commitment guide him in how he tackles tough challenges and supports his team.

“Service, to me, means volunteering to do something difficult–sometimes even when you don’t want to–and giving up control for a greater good,” Lilly reflects. Whether he’s streamlining HR systems or heading home to see his two kids, Lilly’s dedication continues to shine.

He encourages fellow veterans to remember their training and embrace the details. “The little things matter. Believe in what you’ve learned and build from it.”

Honoring All Who Serve

Roman and Lilly are just two of the many veterans at Transdev whose military experience has laid the foundation for impactful civilian careers. Their stories remind us that service doesn’t end when the uniform comes off; it evolves into new forms of leadership, community building, and growth.

As we mark National Military Appreciation Month, we salute Lisa Roman, Abel Lilly, and all of our Transdev veterans. Thank you for your service, both past and present.
