Keeping Qualified Drivers Behind the Wheel
Parents can find comfort knowing that the person driving their child’s school bus is fully qualified and properly certified.
Transdev regularly reviews driver licenses and certifications with technology to monitor credentials throughout the year. If a required certification is nearing expiration, drivers receive advance reminders, and they are not permitted to operate a bus unless all qualifications are current and up to date.
Each year, Transdev completes a thorough review of driver credentials to help ensure all school bus drivers meet required standards.
Training Beyond the Basics
Driving a school bus requires specialized skills. That’s why Transdev provides additional training beyond the minimum requirements.
Throughout the year, drivers participate in safety meetings, refresher training, and one-on-one coaching focused on topics such as:

- Safe Decision-Making Behind the Wheel
- Responding Quickly to Changing Road Conditions
This ongoing support helps drivers continue to build the skills needed to transport students safely.
Using Technology to Improve Safety
Every Transdev-operated school bus is equipped with safety cameras that help identify unsafe driving behaviors and support coaching opportunities.
If the system detects concerns such as speeding, distracted driving, or failure to stop properly, local safety teams are alerted and can review the event. Drivers receive additional coaching when needed to reinforce safe driving practices.
These tools help Transdev identify risks early and act before problems become larger issues.

School transportation is most successful when transportation providers, schools, and families work together.
Through our Safe Rider program, Transdev helps students and families understand school bus safety and encourages ongoing communication throughout the school year.
