Transdev Selected to Continue Managing MBTA The RIDE Access Center
Transdev is proud to announce the renewal of its contract with the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) to continue operating The RIDE Access Center (TRAC), the central hub coordinating paratransit services for thousands of riders throughout Greater Boston. The contract underscores the MBTA’s confidence in Transdev’s ability to deliver safe, reliable, and customer-focused mobility solutions for people with disabilities.
As operator of TRAC, Transdev manages the reservations, scheduling, dispatching, service coordination, customer communications, and operational oversight that support The RIDE, the MBTA’s ADA-compliant paratransit service. Serving 58 communities across the region, The RIDE provides essential transportation that connects riders to healthcare, employment, education, and everyday destinations.
”We are honored to continue our longstanding partnership with the MBTA and support its mission of providing accessible transportation for all. This contract renewal reflects the dedication of our teams and our shared commitment with the MBTA to deliver an exceptional rider experience while continuously improving operational performance and service reliability."
Paul O'BrienSenior Vice President of Transit, Transdev
Through TRAC, Transdev works closely with the MBTA and a network of dedicated and on-demand transportation providers to coordinate daily service delivery. The operation leverages advanced scheduling and dispatch technologies, robust customer support resources, and data-driven performance management to ensure efficient and responsive transportation solutions for riders.
The renewed contract will enable Transdev to continue supporting the MBTA’s goals of enhancing mobility, improving service quality, and expanding innovation within paratransit operations. By integrating technology, operational expertise, and customer-centered service practices, Transdev will help ensure riders receive dependable transportation that meets their individual needs.
”As General Manager, I see every day how essential reliable transportation is to our passengers' independence. Our team's strength lies not just in our operational standards, but in our people, including the team members who bring direct experience as RIDE customers. Their insight shapes how we manage trip reservations, dispatching, and customer support, and we are proud to continue our partnership with the MBTA to deliver an even better experience for Greater Boston."
Joel CookGeneral Manager, Transdev MBTA TRAC Location
Beyond delivering transportation services, the Transdev TRAC team is committed to creating opportunities for the communities it serves. The site’s leadership team has remained in place since June 2018, providing stability, continuity, and deep operational expertise. TRAC also employs approximately 15 current or former RIDE customers, including one member of its management team, demonstrating Transdev’s commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace and creating meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
That commitment was recently recognized by the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind (MCB), which presented Transdev with its 2026 Employer Partnership Award. The award honors Transdev’s longstanding collaboration with MCB and its dedication to workplace accessibility and inclusion. The recognition also highlights the company’s support of MCB’s Summer Internship Program, which provides students who are blind or visually impaired with valuable work experience and mentorship opportunities through employer partners across the Commonwealth.
Transdev’s management of TRAC includes oversight of trip reservations made one to five days in advance, coordination of service delivery across multiple transportation partners, quality assurance monitoring, workforce management, and customer communications.
These functions are essential to maintaining a seamless travel experience for riders throughout the MBTA service area, and Transdev remains committed to providing safe, reliable, and high-quality service to the communities in this area.
