Transdev was honored to be part of the American Public Transportation Association’s (APTA) TRANSform Conference, held September 14-17, 2025, in Boston, Massachusetts. As the transit industry’s premier event, the conference brought together leaders, innovators, and practitioners to exchange ideas and chart the future of mobility.

During a panel focused on the private management of bus, rail, and paratransit services, Hendricks highlighted how contracting can provide agencies with the flexibility to meet unique community needs while unlocking new opportunities for innovation and efficiency. She underscored how private operators like Transdev bring specialized expertise in areas such as electrification, workforce development, microtransit, and emerging technology—expertise that can be scaled and shared across multiple systems to deliver better value for agencies and passengers alike.

With our global footprint, we bring deep expertise. Our U.S. teams work every month and every quarter with global partners—whether in maintenance, on-demand services, or network design for agencies like Nassau County, where we operate the system on the county’s behalf. We approach our work with innovation and creativity, focusing not only on cost but, more importantly, on the innovation and the service to our communities and our team members who are responsible for delivering that service.

Her comments came alongside perspectives from transit agency partners and industry peers, reinforcing how collaboration between public transit agencies and private contractors continues to deliver improved outcomes for communities across the country.

Connecting to Everyday Life

Hendricks’s remarks echo a recent USA Today article published by the North American Transit Alliance (NATA), which illustrates how public transportation is woven into daily life, even for those who don’t ride. From the worker serving coffee in the morning, to the teacher in the classroom, to the nurse at the hospital, millions rely on transit to reach the places where they support others.

Public transportation is more than vehicles on the road or rails – it’s a foundation for local economies, essential services, and opportunity. Partnerships between agencies and NATA members like Transdev strengthen that foundation by making systems more efficient, more innovative, and better prepared for the future.

Driving the Future Together

Transdev commends CEO Laura Hendricks for representing the company and how its people live its purpose at APTA’s TRANSform Conference. Her leadership underscores Transdev’s commitment to being the leading operator and integrator of multiple modes of public transportation. From large metropolitan systems to smaller community networks, Transdev continues to demonstrate why it is the preferred private partner for public transit agencies—delivering innovation, efficiency, and reliable service that keep communities moving.
