Safety Tip: Caring for Ourselves and Our Passengers

Safety Corner

Feelings of sadness or anxiety can affect the way we work, think, and interact with others.  It is okay to get help when you need it.  iTransdev is committed to the well-being of our employees. Transdev’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) was made to help our employees feel better and show up as their best at work.  Your manager can help connect you with this program. Sometimes passengers experience sadness, too.  As an operator, showing you Care about the well-being of your passengers can make a big difference in a person’s mood and may even save a life!

Know the warning signs of sadness in passengers by looking for the following:

  • Passenger talks about giving up
  • Passenger looks sad, upset, or is very quiet
  • Risky or strange behavior
  • Drunk, use of drugs, or upset

If you see a passenger showing signs of sadness, here’s what you can do to help:

  • Stay calm and kind
  • Keep safety first
  • Call your supervisor
  • Trust your gut

If you have an emergency with a passenger, operators should follow their Emergency Response Plan (ERP) to help the passenger in need. Always contact your supervisor if you have questions or are unsure about what to do. Remember, showing passengers that you care can save a life.  Safety First!
