June Pride Month: Recognizing LGBTQ+ Trailblazers – Part 2

In honor of June Pride Month, we want to continue recognizing and celebrating the contributions made to our society by LGBTQ+ trailblazers and their efforts to advance equity and equality.

Here we highlight:

Bayard Rustin – a civil rights activist and close advisor to Martin Luther King Jr.
Sally Ride – America’s first female astronaut and youngest American to travel to space in 1983.
Pete Buttigieg – when sworn in as U.S. Secretary of Transportation in February 2021, he became the first openly LGBTQ cabinet member in U.S. history.
