Transdev Celebrates World Public Transport Day by Empowering the Freedom to Move

Safety Corner

Transdev recognizes World Public Transport Day and the important role public transit plays in helping communities grow and stay connected. This day is celebrated every year on April 17 to highlight how public transportation supports economic opportunity and a more sustainable future. The day was introduced in 2005 by UITP, the International Association of Public Transport, to celebrate how transit helps people reach the places and people that matter most.

Across the globe, public transit workers and their teams will take part in local events, share their favorite transit stories, and host activities that help people learn more about transportation.

To honor World Public Transport Day, Transdev encourages employees to:

  • Share moments when public transit made a meaningful difference in their lives or in the communities they serve.
  • Recognize coworkers who work hard every day to keep passengers safe and moving forward.
  • Connect with their local communities through outreach, educational sessions, or simple acts of service that show the value of public transportation.
  • Promote public transportation travel by encouraging friends, family, and neighbors to try public transit and experience its environmental and economic benefits.

World Public Transport Day reminds us of how important mobility is for creating opportunities, strengthening communities, and building a more sustainable future for everyone.

Happy World Public Transport Day from Transdev!
