Transdev is proud to honor three exceptional technicians who have been recognized by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) as 2025 award winners. Each of these individuals has shown remarkable skill, professionalism, and dedication to the transit industry, and their achievements highlight the strong commitment they bring to their work every day.
ASE Master Automobile & Mobile/Heavy-Duty Truck Technician of the Year Award Winner Robert Morrison
Robert Morrison’s passion for automotive work began in childhood, when he repaired cars at home with his dad. Over the years, that early interest grew into a lifelong career focused on excellence. As the Technician in Charge at Transdev’s Harford location, he has earned the spotlight as an ASE World Class Technician and a member of the ASE President’s Club, placing him among the best in the industry.
Morrison credits much of his success to the mentorship of his supervisor, Bill Woods, whose leadership has helped shape his career. Morrison believes strongly in the value of ASE certifications, explaining that they have opened doors for him and helped him stay current in a field that is rapidly changing. His personal motto reflects his approach to work: nothing is worth doing halfway.
ASE Master Transit Bus Technician of the Year Award Winner Bryan Gold
Bryan Gold has always been interested in learning how things work. What began as a simple wonder under the hood of a car eventually led him to a leadership role in transit maintenance. For 15 years, Gold has supported the Chicago PACE contract, ensuring safe and reliable service for the community.
As the Manager of Maintenance at the Chicago PACE location, he has earned the titles of ASE World Class Technician and ASE President’s Club member. Gold views professional certification as a promise to deliver high-quality work, comparing it to the trust people place in any professional with an advanced degree. His work philosophy is grounded in discipline and effort: hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.
ASE Master Transit Bus Technician of the Year Award Winner Derek Williams
Derek Williams comes from a family rooted in the transit industry. Inspired by his father, uncle, and grandfather, he chose to follow in their footsteps and become a bus technician. Today, he serves as the Quality Assurance Manager at Transdev’s Commerce City, Colorado, location. Over the past five years, Williams has focused on ensuring safe and reliable transportation for the community.
His dedication has earned him recognition as an ASE World Class Technician and a membership in the ASE President’s Club. Williams takes pride in the impact his work has on the daily lives of people, knowing that reliable public transportation helps communities thrive. He sees ASE certifications as both a challenge and a motivator, pushing technicians to understand vehicle systems thoroughly and repair them correctly the first time. His advice to others is simple but wise: always start by checking that the switch is turned on.
Our 2025 ASE Award winners demonstrate what it means to embrace our Transdev spirit of Care, Share, Dare, and Deliver by going above and beyond to achieve excellence.
Transdev proudly congratulates the 2025 ASE Award winners and looks forward to seeing what they accomplish in the years ahead!
