Here at Transdev, Safety is always first. In honor of National Safety Month, we keep looking for ways to improve road safety and encourage safe driving habits for our employees.
Whether you are operating a vehicle on or off the job, there is always room to improve the way you drive every time you get behind the wheel. Here are some helpful reminders to keep in mind while driving:
- Avoid Distractions-driving distracted can be dangerous. Talking and/or texting on your cell phone, wearing headphones, and playing loud music can cause you to have an accident. Always be alert and aware when operating a vehicle by avoiding distractions.
- Approaching Intersections– When approaching an intersection, practice the 5-rules of an intersection by always expecting trouble, covering your break, and keeping your head and eyes moving. Allow the intersection to clear before entering and be on the lookout for pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorcyclists.
- Approaching Traffic Circles– When approaching traffic circles, be sure to look both ways before entering. Make sure your vehicle has enough room to enter the circle, move slowly, and look out for other vehicles. Safety First.
Other ways you can improve road safety is asking your manager questions to make sure you are following the rules of the road. Attend safety meetings regularly and brush up on your driving training materials if you are unsure about something.
We Are All in This Together
Whether you are servicing passengers, or you are driving home from work, practicing road safety is everyone’s responsibility.
