Daring to be Innovative and Reliable in South Bay

Safety Corner

Sometimes plans and schedules change when you least expect it. How our teams rise to the occasion and dare to find the solutions is how we deliver on our purpose for our clients.

Recently, our South Bay team in San Diego got word from our MTS client that on-site electric charging stations needed to be installed and the project would take three months to complete. Breaking ground would start in 3 weeks. The team had to make their location ready, specifically their parking lot.  A big job – but, the team quickly developed a plan to execute it. They’d be ready.

Then, a drastic change came – just 24 hours later. The timeline changed – from breaking ground in 3 weeks to breaking ground in 1 week and needing all 190 employee parking spaces available in 7 days.

The team quickly pulled together – shared their ideas – and were innovative in their solutions like:

  • Converting the Recruitment Cutaway to a Mobile Dispatch Unit (MDU)
  • Increasing the efficiency where drivers check in and report to their assigned bus
  • Moving where their relief and shuttle vehicles were parked to an offsite location
  • Maximizing trolley network to take drivers to their assigned stations to pick up their schedules

Thanks to a true team effort from everyone – operations team, safety, maintenance team, IT and the drivers – the client’s deadline was met, and Transdev’s South Bay team showed how innovative, reliable and service-oriented they can be.

Congratulations to Juan Lopez and his team.
