June Pride Month: Recognizing LGBTQ+ Trailblazers

Safety Corner

As June Pride Month comes to an end, we want to recognize and celebrate the contributions made to our society by LGBTQ+ trailblazers and their efforts to advance equity and equality.

Check out the accompanying video.

Here we highlight:

  • Bayard Rustin – a civil rights activist and close advisor to Martin Luther King Jr.
  • Sally Ride – America’s first female astronaut and youngest American to travel to space in 1983.
  • Pete Buttigieg – when sworn in as U.S. Secretary of Transportation in February 2021, he became the first openly LGBTQ cabinet member in U.S. history.
