As a follow-up to our initial article introducing Mobileye, we have started our installation of Mobileye® 8 Connect™ at some of our operations, with more to come in the coming weeks and months.
We have made the decision to partner with Mobileye® to complement and enhance our safety culture. Mobileye is a vision-based, driver-assistance system that provides warnings for collision prevention and mitigation.
Our inaugural installation took place at our Arizona Valley Metro paratransit operation in April. John Guignion, corporate safety manager, was on-site to deliver the training and oversee the installation. “I was very happy with the process,” John shared. “The drivers were incredibly engaged during the training and asked really inciteful questions, while our third-party installer, True Tracking, was focused and meticulous during the installation of the system.
Valley Metro General Manager, Michael Lee, also had positive reviews. “The installation was seamless, and the installers were great,” Michael added. “John Guignion added lots of enthusiasm to the training. He took the time to attend all our safety meetings – both at Gilbert and in Peoria – and made a good impression on the drivers.”
Michael shared that, to date, none of his drivers have brought up any issues with Mobileye. In fact, he added that the drivers like that the system can help them get an idea of potential hazards that may not be as obvious to them, when blocked by the frequent sun glare experienced in Arizona.
Our installation of Mobileye will continue throughout the year across most of our operations. We look forward to offering our operators this well-tested tool to help keep them even safer on the roads.
