As Transdev recognizes Black History Month, we’re taking time to highlight teammates, like Brianna Jackson, Safety Manager at our Baltimore MTA paratransit location, who bring passion, purpose, and heart to their roles.
Brianna has worked in transportation for more than 25 years. She started driving buses in college at the University of Maryland College Park to support herself while earning her degree. After college, she became a theatre teacher but kept driving part‑time because she loved helping people.
When she later needed full‑time work, she returned to driving for the company that would become Transdev. She grew in her career, becoming an operator, then a Road Supervisor. She spent nine years in that role, learning new skills, and becoming a certified instructor. This lets her travel, train others, and make a bigger impact.
As the Safety Manager, Brianna uses her teaching skills to create fun and engaging safety messages that help operators stay focused. She stays positive, even when discipline is needed, and reminds her team: “When you work with people, you learn something new every day.”
Brianna says her mother taught her to speak up, ask questions, and care for others. She strongly supports paratransit riders, especially those who cannot speak for themselves.
She believes everyone makes mistakes and often tells her team, “We are not robots; we are humans.”
Her office is warm and welcoming because she wants employees to feel supported. She believes you can hold people accountable while still showing kindness.
Brianna has faced challenges, including staying in one role longer than she planned. But she kept learning and improving. With support from her general manager, she earned several promotions. She credits her success to hard work and always being willing to grow.
Outside of Transdev, Brianna has volunteered/served for 25 years which includes one year as Governor and six years as Director with the American Legion Auxiliary Maryland Girls State, a summer residential civic leadership program for young ladies in their junior year of high school. She loves helping others and mentoring new leaders.
As a member of COMTO, she has met many successful Black professionals in transportation. She has traveled to 13 countries and 27 states and dreams of one day becoming the U.S. Secretary of Transportation. For now, she is proud of her role as Safety Manager.
Brianna encourages young professionals to value their careers at Transdev.
“It’s more than a job,” she says. “It can support you for years.”
Her career has also helped her reach personal goals, like buying a home and caring for her mother. She supports her older sisters, loves to travel, and is a proud pet parent of two Bichon Frise – Emmett & Fiona. She also speaks French, Korean, and American Sign Language, which helps her connect with more employees.
Transdev is proud to have Brianna, a leader who makes a positive difference every day.
