"Pedestrian Safety” is the theme for our Health & Safety September/October campaign. This next theme is not only a timely one with kids going back to school – but a necessary one. Our commitment to highlight different Health & Safety themes every couple of months continues.

“Beat the Heat”: Know the Signs of Dehydration

If you feel thirsty, dizzy, fatigued, confused or notice your mouth or skin is excessively dry, stop what you are doing, move to a cool area and get hydrated.

“Beat the Heat”: Summer Preparedness

During the summer, weather patterns are known to change quickly – it’s important to stay aware, be prepared and adapt quickly. Always keep an eye on the sky and if you are caught in severe weather, get off the road, don’t try to drive through a flooded area and seek immediate shelter.

Beat the Heat with OSHA’s Heat Safety App

Our next “Beat the Heat” topic highlights a great tool from OSHA. Their Heat Safety App allows those who work outside for extended periods of time to calculate the heat index for their worksite, and based on the heat index, it displays a risk level. The App is available on Google Play or the Apple store.
