If you feel thirsty, dizzy, fatigued, confused or notice your mouth or skin is excessively dry, stop what you are doing, move to a cool area and get hydrated.
During the summer, weather patterns are known to change quickly – it’s important to stay aware, be prepared and adapt quickly. Always keep an eye on the sky and if you are caught in severe weather, get off the road, don’t try to drive through a flooded area and seek immediate shelter.
Our next “Beat the Heat” topic highlights a great tool from OSHA. Their Heat Safety App allows those who work outside for extended periods of time to calculate the heat index for their worksite, and based on the heat index, it displays a risk level. The App is available on Google Play or the Apple store.
