For Women’s History Month, Transdev is proud to celebrate Joanna Cornell, Vice President of Safety and Security. She started her journey as a part-time supervisor at UPS where she worked hard, went back to school, and earned several degrees in safety to eventually move up to global safety director. After 24 years at UPS, Joanna joined Transdev in 2024, where she leads the safety and security team. In this role, she improves safety and helps future leaders grow in their careers. She believes that speaking up and supporting other women is important. Joanna mentors young women leaders, teaching them to be confident, ask questions, and share their ideas without fear.
She is a professor at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, helping students learn about the new safety technology like AI, green energy, and virtual reality. She encourages women to help create new tech and start their own businesses.
Outside of work, Joanna is a children’s book author, where she is in the process of publishing her first book on treasure hunting. She believes in helping others, learning new things, and making safety better for everyone.
Joanna’s advice for upcoming women safety professionals is to be confident, stay curious, and always support others.
