Winter Preparedness #6: Mental Health Awareness – February Blues

Safety Corner

“Mental Health Awareness” is our next “Winter Preparedness” sub-topic.

February is a difficult month for many people in northern latitudes, sometimes brought on by the shorter, darker days. According to WebMD, over 11 million people suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).

Tips to cope with these seasonal blues include finding ways to exercise, eating healthy and finding alternate sources of light/sunshine (light boxes or a vacation destination). The key is to recognize your symptoms and take action before they get worse.

Additionally, our free Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is also available to all employees to help navigate difficult situations. Call: 877-747-1200.
