Safety Corner
NOTE: Please disseminate this information to all employees who are eligible for our company-sponsored benefits plans.

We are excited to announce that your transition to Transdev’s Payroll and Benefits will be complete starting in September!

This means that your 401(k) deductions will begin on your first paycheck in September, and benefits deductions and enrollment will continue. Please continue reading for details and dates.

Keep watch for additional communications from HR in the coming weeks about more progress news around HR systems and processes.

If you are a participant in the First Group Benefits and/or 401(k) Plan, please continue reading for important information about migrating to Transdev’s plans. If you do not participate in either the First Group benefits plans administered by Alight or the First Group 401(k) Plan administered by Principal, then this information does not apply to you.

Benefits: What to Expect

Coverage under the Transdev benefits plans and platforms becomes effective Friday, September 1st. You do not need to re-enroll. Your current elections and deductions will have carried over.

Medical, Dental, and Vision carrier, plans, and premiums will not change with this platform transition. New medical insurance cards will be issued and become effective on Friday, September 1st. Important accumulators, such as your deductible and out of pocket expenses, will transfer to Transdev’s plans with each plan/carrier. New CIGNA dental cards will need to be downloaded from the MyCigna.com site – instructions to follow. Note: We encourage you to fill any maintenance medications prior to Thursday, August 31st because it will take 10-14 days to completely transfer those accumulators.

With this platform transition, vendor changes will take place for EAP, FSA, HSA, Life/AD&D, and Disability carriers. Elections and rates for these voluntary plans will not change on September 1st, 2023. Information will be posted on our Benefits Platform and at locations regarding EAP, Disability, and Life. Additional information is included below. More information will follow via direct participant mailings for Life/AD&D and Disability.

HSA accounts in the First Group plan with SmartChoice will remain active through Thursday, August 31st. You can keep your HSA account with SmartChoice, however you will now incur a monthly fee of $2. Otherwise, you can transfer your HSA account to the Transdev vendor, BenefitWallet. The transfer to BenefitWallet incurs a $25 transfer fee, but Transdev will reimburse you for that transfer fee. Your new HSA account with BenefitWallet will be effective Friday, September 1st.  Welcome kits will be mailed and new HSA debit cards will be issued by Friday, September 1st.

FSA accounts will transition from SmartChoice to HealthEquity between September 1st – September 18th. You will be unable to use your FSA card or submit claims during this transition period. Expenses incurred during this period can be submitted for reimbursement on or after September 18th. New FSA cards will be mailed on or around September 8th.

There are some other benefits changes that will also be occurring around the same time – however these do not require you to take any action (see below). New information will be posted both physically and digitally about these benefits:

  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) will transition to Quantum on Friday, September 1st.
  • Disability benefits will transition to MetLife for disabilities around Friday, September 1st or later.
  • Life insurance will transition to MetLife for deaths around Friday, September 1st or later.

bSwift will replace Alight as your enrollment platform and plan administrator. You can contact bSwift at www.transdev.bswift.com or by phone at 866-826-6802 after the transition. Note: bSwift will be unavailable from Friday, September 1st – Friday, September 8th during the transition time.

401K: What to Expect

You will become eligible to make or change your 401(k) deferral election at Fidelity beginning on Tuesday, August 15th. If you had an active 401(k) deferral election in the FirstGroup 401(k) Plan on March 6th, 2023, we will have enrolled you at that rate by Tuesday, August 15th on the Fidelity platform. You will need to make any deferral elections or changes by 3:00 PM Eastern on Thursday, August 31st to have the change be reflected on your first paycheck in September. You may update your elections at any time after August 31st, and the election will be effective on future payrolls.

You will continue to receive the same matching contribution as you did in First Group’s 401(k) Plan and you will be subject to the same vesting provisions. In addition, Transdev will contribute to your 401(k) account in September. It will be the same amount as the matching contribution you would have received had you continued to defer throughout the transition period at the rate you were deferring into the FG 401(k) Plan on March 6th.

You can make your 401(k) deferral and investment elections by logging into your Fidelity account at www.NetBenefits.com or by calling Fidelity’s Service Center at 800-835-5095. If this is your first time logging into Fidelity, please go to www.NetBenefits.com and click on the Register as a New User link towards the bottom of the page to establish your login credentials.

Questions: General 401K-related questions, please reach out to Ask401K@transdev.com.
