March is Women’s History Month

Safety Corner

March is Women’s History Month.

Did you know?

Every year, March is designated Women’s History Month by presidential proclamation. Women’s History Month is a celebration of women’s contributions to history, culture and society and has been observed annually in the month of March in the United States since 1987.

Here’s an interesting timeline of the evolution of Women’s History Month:

  • The first Women’s History Day took place in 1909.
  • International Women’s Day became a holiday in 1911.
  • Women’s History Day became Women’s History Week in 1978.
  • Women’s History Month began in 1987.
  • Every Women’s History Month has a theme.

Women’s History Month’s 2023 theme is “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories.”

Stay tuned for a celebration post we will publish on International Women’s Day on March 8, 2023, celebrating some of our special Transdev women.
