Safety Tip – Fight Fatigue Before It Fights You

Safety Corner

Fatigue can happen when your body or mind has been working too hard, not getting enough rest, or dealing with stress or illness. When you feel fatigued, even simple tasks can seem difficult, and you might need extra time or sleep to recover.

A well-rested operator is a safe operator. By following the Golden Safety Rules and coming to work well-rested and alert, you can prevent accidents and safety risks.

Operators can fight fatigue by:

  • Sleeping 8-10 hours before starting work
  • Getting to bed earlier
  • Drinking water regularly to stay hydrated
  • Taking short movement breaks to reset your energy
  • Getting exposure to natural light, even for a few minutes
  • Eating balanced meals and snacks to avoid energy dips
  • Exercising regularly

Fatigue shows up in different ways and is more than feeling drowsy or sleepy.  Fatigue affects the part of your brain that makes decisions.  If you are too tired while driving, fatigue can pose a safety risk to you and your passengers.

By paying attention to your body’s needs and getting enough rest before starting work, operators can prevent accidents.  Safety First!
