Heart Health Awareness Month: Ways to Prioritize Your Well‑Being

Safety Corner

Every February, communities across the country observe Heart Health Awareness Month; it’s the perfect time to show your heart a little love.  According to the American Heart Association, heart disease is a major health issue in the United States, but many heart problems can be prevented through awareness, early detection, and healthy habits.

The heart keeps the body running, and when it isn’t functioning well, it affects overall health. Because heart disease can develop quietly, learning about risks and acting early is important.

Common risk factors include:

  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol
  • Smoking
  • Diabetes
  • Obesity
  • Lack of physical activity
  • Family history
  • Chronic stress

While some risks cannot be changed, many can be managed with good daily choices. Small, steady improvements make a real difference. Helpful habits include:

  • Eating healthy foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats
  • Getting regular physical activity
  • Practicing stressrelief techniques
  • Keeping up with regular health checkups
  • Limiting alcohol and avoiding tobacco

These steps support both heart health and overall wellbeing. Transdev remains committed to the well-being of our people as we recognize Heart Health Awareness Month.
