Throughout Transdev’s Season of Service, we are shining a spotlight on locations that are empowering communities with the freedom to move. In the spirit of giving back, we share the story of the Pinellas County location in Pinellas County, Florida, on how they are driving their community forward for the Back-to-School season.
The Pinellas County Safety Team joined together to raise a school supply drive for local students in partnership with the Pinellas Education Foundation. They showed up in full force, putting smiles on the faces of community members and giving back to those in need.
Thomas Tibbetts, General Manager, says that his team put in hard work to raise the amount of supplies needed to make a bigger difference in their community, “We decided it was a good idea to coordinate as a team to give back to our schools and community”.
When asked how the Pinellas Education Foundation responded to their acts of service, Thomas Ennis, Assistant General Manager, says, “They welcomed us and were happy to see us. We helped them load supplies onto the school bus and inside their building, and they were very happy for our service.”
Every member of the team plays their role to make sure they are helping their community.
Micheala Simmons, Road Supervisor, says, “It shows that we actually care. We’re in the business of helping people. When we step in and do these community drives, it shows that we want to take an active role in building the future of our community. It sends an important message to everyone, even our employees.”
Not only did children get supplies to do well in school, but employees also took away a sense of pride and were grateful to be a part of the movement. Thomas Tibbetts shares the feedback he has gotten from employees after being involved in the efforts: “The staff who have really gotten involved felt good afterwards after joining in on this event.”
The Pinellas Safety Team plans to continue its community service efforts, connecting with other not-for-profits that help those in need.
Ronald Moses, Safety Manager, shares that he is looking forward to continuing the team’s efforts to give back, sharing the level of impact that can be made when planning community outreach events, “I find that it’s nice to find something we can plan and put everything into to make it as impactful as possible.”
The Pinellas County Safety Team has not stopped there. They plan to continue their community outreach by creating mobility services to take cancer patients who are in recovery to their medical appointments at no cost, with the help of volunteer drivers.
Transdev is proud to see employees embracing our spirit of Care, Share, Dare, and Deliver by caring for their community, sharing support to those in need, daring to make a difference, and delivering on our Purpose to serve the common good.
