At Transdev, we are taking time to remember and celebrate Juneteenth, an important day in American history. Juneteenth is celebrated every year on June 19, marking the day in 1865 when the last of enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, were told they were free. This happened more than two years after slavery in the U.S. had officially ended in 1863 when the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.
Also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, Juneteenth is a time to honor the strength and courage of African Americans and to learn more about their history and culture.
Transdev believes it is important to create a place to work where everyone belongs. Juneteenth helps us to remember how far we have come and how we can keep moving forward.
Happy Juneteenth from Transdev!
