As November kicks off, we transition from Breast Cancer Awareness (October) to our Movember campaign, during which we hope to raise awareness around men’s health issues, including prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men’s mental health.
A big part of our Movember campaign is our annual Movember Mustache Growing Contest. Every year, this event is a great success, and we hope to continue the momentum this November, which marks our fifth year!
We encourage you to join our contest and grow your mustache (or a semblance of one) throughout the month of November. Below is a flyer to help you promote the contest at your locations.
You can participate as an individual or as part of a team of folks from a location (creating your own competition). A special prize will be given to the winner (as voted on by some of our distinguished Transdev “experts”).
Here are the basics about the contest and submitting your before and after pictures:
Nov. 4: Day 1 – Getting Started– email Picture #1: Now That’s a Clean Shave!
Dec.1: Day 29 – You Did It– email Picture #2: Showing off Your Success!
Send your pictures by each date listed to US.MarCom@transdev.com to be featured internally!
We will post progress updates throughout the month of November as we receive them, as well as include weekly stories about men’s health issues to help raise awareness.
If growing a mustache isn’t your thing…
There are still other ways you can become involved and raise awareness for the Movember issues throughout the month. Another way to get involved includes walking or running 60 miles throughout the month (that’s only 2 miles per day).
- Why 60 miles? The number recognizes the statistic that 60 men globally who are lost to suicide each hour, every hour.
Get Inspired by the Men of Transdev!
Each week, we will share a tip about how the men of Transdev support their mental health. To get us started, Paul Roche, our Chief Information Officer, shared these tips about how he takes care of himself mentally. He shared with us:
“For my mental well-being, I began using the Calm app about two years ago for short sessions. I find it very helpful to do the ’Daily Calm’ which is a 10-minute short mindfulness meditation which changes each day, but always has a mindfulness focus on getting my thoughts centered and being in the moment, focused on myself. I love it because it provides a nice reset/recharge in a short period of time. I also really like the ‘Daily Jay’ which is a shorter 7-minute daily meditation on a self-improvement topic. I find that doing one of them during the day, and one either in the morning or in the evening really helps me to make sure I stop twice and spend at least a few minutes on being mindful and focusing on myself – for both mental wellness and also self-improvement.
“I also got into doing 30–45 minute power walks outside during the summer. While I expected the obvious health benefits and to be feeling better physically, I was surprised at how much it also helped to clear my head. I have found that depending on what’s going on in life, sometimes the walks just help to clear things out, and sometimes that is also followed by some deeper thinking.”
Thank you, Paul for sharing how you work on your mental health each and every day!
We can’t wait to see how everyone will get involved in Movember 2024!
