Beat the Heat #4: Heat-Related Illness Actions

Safety Corner

This week, within our Beat the Heat topic, we are discussing actions to take when dealing with heat-related illness.

It’s important to call 911 when you suspect heat-related illness.

First and foremost – cooling is key. Do what you can to help cool the affected person bring their body temperature down. Use cold compresses (on their neck, head, armpits), spray them with water, create an ice bath, circulate cold air around them and remove tight fitting clothing.

Stay with them until help arrives.
