Transdev Completes Acquisition of First Transit Becoming Leading Private Operator of Transportation in the U.S.

Safety Corner

We are proud to announce that our acquisition of First Transit is officially complete. As of today, Transdev and First Transit are part of the same company and will operate under the Transdev brand moving forward.

This transaction makes us the leading operator of safe, cost-effective and environmentally-friendly public transportation services in the U.S., across a variety of transit modes, including fixed route bus systems, paratransit, shuttle services, rail, light rail and fleet maintenance – something to be proud of.

Our newly expanded entity in the U.S. now includes operations in 43 states (including Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico). We now serve 400 cities and communities, operate 17,300 vehicles, 340 of which are electric, and we have an expanded workforce of 32,000.

“We look forward to integrating our new colleagues into Transdev and showing our new and existing clients and partners how, together, we will continue to deliver on our Purpose to empower the freedom to move through safe, reliable and innovative solutions that serve the common good,” said Laura Hendricks, CEO.

We all share a commitment to operate sustainable public transit for all passengers and to contribute to the communities we serve. These complementary cultures will provide us with the energy to drive Transdev forward, make a difference and create opportunities and excitement for 2023 and beyond.
