February is Heart Month

Safety Corner

Since the mid-1960s, the month of February is designated as American Heart Month.

Heart disease is largely preventable and focusing on improving your heart health has never been more important. Heart disease is a leading cause of death for women and men in the United States, and many Americans remain at risk of getting it, according to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI).

Since the health and safety of our employees is our top priority, we have committed to providing some healthy-heart awareness information throughout the month of February.

To start, here are some tips that can make an impact on your heart health.

  • Be more physically active.
  • Maintain a healthy weight.
  • Eat a nutritious diet.
  • Quit smoking.
  • Reduce stress.
  • Get 7-8 hours of quality sleep.
  • Track your heart health stats.

Don’t overwhelm yourself and feel you must tackle all the tips listed above at once…even picking just one at a time can make a difference.
