National Rail Safety Week (September 19-25)

Safety Corner

This week is Rail Safety Week.

Rail Safety Week is a collaborative effort among Operation Lifesaver, Inc., state Operation Lifesaver programs, and rail safety partners across the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Rail Safety Week is spearheaded by Operation Lifesaver, Inc. (OLI),  Operation Lifesaver Canada and the Mexican Association of Railroads (AMF), making it a true North American effort.

Each day, throughout the week, has a designated focus from #STOPTrackTragedies to Trespassing Prevention. The focus for Thursday the 22nd is on Transit Safety and Professional Driver Safety.

Our Safety First philosophy is the foundation of our streetcar operations and our maintenance of way track work, just as it is for all our operations. It’s at the heart of everything we do.

Beyond our commitment to providing our operators and technicians with vigorous training, our focus on safety includes the safety of our employees, subcontractors, the public, freight and passenger train operating crews, and passengers.

Rail Safety Week is a great time for us all to recommit to our Safety First philosophy and take the time to appreciate our rail team and the work they do for the communities we serve.
