NICE Bus Launches “NICE Assist” Program to Ease Transit Anxiety Among New Riders

Safety Corner

Our NICE Bus (Nassau Inter-County Express) location just introduced a new personalized service for potential new riders who may have questions, concerns or anxieties about how to use the local public transportation bus system.

The program is called NICE Assist. It provides on-demand passenger assistance, in English or in Spanish, for people requiring help in using the system for the first time, such as residents who are new to Nassau County, senior citizens, people with mobility impairments or those new to riding public transit.

Here’s how the program works:

A NICE customer representative will arrange to meet the prospective rider at a bus stop of their choice. Our representative will personally walk them through boarding procedures, fares and payment systems, the use of schedules, signs and the NICE Go Mobile app, and information about specialized programs such as paratransit service through NICE ABLE-RIDE.

Appointments are made by calling 516-967-5182 (ideally 2 hours in advance) and are available M-F from 7am-7pm.

What a great example of living our purpose by empowering the freedom to move through innovative solutions that help the common good. Thanks to NICE Bus for sharing your story.
