May is Mental Health Awareness Month

Safety Corner

Mental Health Awareness Month (also referred to as “Mental Health Month”) has been observed in May in the United States since 1949. This year’s theme is “Together for Mental Health”.

Did You Know?

  • 1 in 5 American adults experiences some form of mental illness in any given year
  • Across the population, 1 in every 20 adultsis living with a serious mental health condition such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or long-term recurring major depression.

It’s a good time to raise awareness of mental or behavioral health issues, to help reduce the stigma and to check in on those you feel may be struggling.

For more information, refer to National Alliance on Mental Health or Mental Health America.

Also, please note, our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is available to all employees, at no cost. It’s confidential and be accessed here. Also, you can always call (877) 747-1200 to speak with an EAP counselor or visit  www.accessqhs.com.
