Foothill Transit’s Transit Center Transformed into Vaccination Center

Safety Corner

When we care about the communities we serve, great things can happen.

Under a partnership between the city of Covina, Albertsons and our client Foothill Transit, Foothill Transit’s new transit center has been transformed into a vaccination center, serving those who are vaccine eligible in the local community.

“Our new Foothill Transit Transit Center had just opened last March 2020, explained Ibrahima Toure, southwest regional vice president. “Since the center hasn’t been used to its full capacity since the pandemic, it makes perfect sense to repurpose this great space as a vaccination center to help our local community.”

Our employees are signing up to volunteer on the designated vaccination days. While Albertsons’ pharmacy employees are administering the vaccine, our volunteers are able to help with logistics, like set up, take down, registration, social distancing monitoring etc. The bonus for our employees – all volunteers also can get vaccinated.

During the first vaccination event on March 13, 1,300 shots were given and another clinic was held this past weekend. More dates are already scheduled throughout the spring, about two per month, providing many options to local residents and more opportunities for our employees to show they care and help out.

Our Foothill Transit bus – Line 281 – can take interested community members straight to the Foothill Transit Center and our operations team even increased the bus’s frequency to accommodate demand.

So proud of our Foothill Transit employees for sharing their time and giving back to the community they serve.
