Great Ideas Come from Within

Safety Corner

At our Concord, North Carolina (division 373) facility, Christopher Johnson, a utility worker on our maintenance team, used his creativity to find a solution to a material shortage issue and save the company money, all while making the health and safety of his fellow employees the top priority during the current coronavirus outbreak. We are definitely impressed.

Chris was hired just a few months ago at Concord and according to Maintenance Manager, Jay Schleimer, has been doing a great job and performing at a high level.

Here was the situation:
The site recently had to replace their antibacterial foaming soap dispensers at both their facilities since the manufacturer had discontinued their soap supply. The need for regular cleaning is more important today than ever. Chris took the “old” dispensers and the empty soap containers, thoroughly cleaned them, and filled them with the new hand sanitizer recently received from a distillery. This solution addressed the site’s issues around not only finding gel sanitizer, but also finding bottles/dispensers that could handle that liquid substance without leaking.

Chris’ creativity and innovation helped recycle some still functioning equipment and save a small fortune for the operation, according to Schleimer. Clearly, Chris’ hard work, dedication and effort are appreciated by his team and he’s making a great contribution to the operation and to Transdev as a whole.

Nice job Chris. Thank you.
