In honor of Black History Month in February, we are looking forward to celebrating the month and recognizing Transit Equity Day/Rosa Parks' birthday (observed on Feb. 5). At Transdev, we operate under the principles that everyone has the right to equal access on public transit—not just today, not just during Black History Month, but always.

MLK day is observed each year on the third Monday in January, in honor of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s life and legacy. It is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities or reflect on civil rights and racial equity issues.

Thank you to our operations who organized Stuff-a-Bus or other community outreach events over the holidays. Community outreach and showing we care about the communities in which we operate is just part of how we do business – over the holidays and throughout the year. January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month and January 11th is designated as National Human Trafficking Awareness Day. Since we can all do our part…this is also a great time to ensure you’ve completed our Human Trafficking Awareness and Public Safety Campaign training that’s available on LEARN (https://www.transdevelearning.net).

Our Transdev team at Metro Transit in Minneapolis, Minnesota has been busy making a lasting impression on a group of preschoolers that won’t soon be forgotten. This group of kids from a local childcare center conduct weekly field trips to explore the city via public transportation, thanks to the encouragement of their teacher. Read more in the full story.

Our Movember, mustache-growing volunteers are definitely making some great progress for a good cause. Though their faces may be getting itchy, they are committed to persevere in support of our campaign to raise awareness for some key men health concerns, including prostate and testicular cancer and mental health issues.

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, which extends from September 15 – October 15, we recognize just some of the contributions made by Hispanic and LatinX Americans to the transportation industry. In the accompanying video, we highlight the impact made to our industry by César Pelli, a world-renowned architect and by Sophia Sánchez-Maes, a clean energy pioneer at only 21 years old.
