Celebrating 50 Years in Phoenix…and Going Strong

Safety Corner

As we embark on 2021, we are so proud to recognize that 2020 marked the 50-year anniversary of our partnership with the City of Phoenix to provide safe, reliable and efficient transportation to the City’s residents. How exciting for us to be part of one of the country’s longest-running partnerships of the public and private sectors focused on bus operations, service quality and maintenance.

When asked his thoughts about this milestone, Dave Todd, general manager for Phoenix, said “we are incredibly grateful to work with such a supportive and innovative client. We have a very collaborative and open relationship that is built on mutual respect, years of trust and a shared goal of providing the very best service to the riding public. For that, we are fortunate.”

One of the keys to this success is that our Phoenix team sees itself as more than just a provider of public transportation services. They pride themselves in being engaged members of the community. Whether it be supporting the City’s transportation needs for large-scale community events – like March Madness or the Superbowl – or community outreach events to benefit those in need, our employees are always there.

Dave Todd continued to say that it’s his employees who provide the differentiating factor. He credits the contract’s success to his team’s strong health and safety culture, the service ethic and longevity of many employees, and the team’s and client’s openness to new technology and innovation. “I am incredibly proud of our employees,” Todd commented. “Our staff shows such dedication, commitment and flexibility every day. This had been especially true through 2020, as they had to address and adjust to all the challenges brought forth by the pandemic.”

We are also excited that the City of Phoenix has continued to show its confidence in our capabilities by awarding us another five-year contract, with an optional two years.

Congratulations to the entire Phoenix team.
