Transdev Plays Key Role in New Association for Private Sector Operators

Safety Corner

As you likely recently heard, Transdev North America was one of the six founding members of the North American Transit Alliance (NATA) and our CEO, Dick Alexander, was named as NATA’s first Chairman.  NATA members include the largest private sector operators, Keolis, MV, First Transit, National Express, RATP Dev and of course Transdev.

NATA was formed to advocate for private contracting, and the transit agencies and employees which depend on its member companies.  Together they account for 35 percent of the total U.S. public transportation labor pool, with more than 154,000 total employees across more than 2,000 cities in the U.S. and Canada

Dick and WC Pihl, SVP of Business Development, who is also a member of NATA’s founding team, are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for the organization and the influence NATA can have on the future of transit. They are confident that NATA will help cities flourish by promoting innovative transportation solutions and business models that will improve transit and help ensure its resiliency for the future.

“The future of our economy depends on safe, effective, reliable public transit,” Dick said. “We must fundamentally rethink how transportation services are funded and delivered for the cities of tomorrow, and we will help do that by bringing operational expertise, digital innovation, equitable service design and a deep commitment to improving the passenger experience.”

An important note – NATA is committed to continuing to work closely with  leaders  at the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), and other industry trade associations to advocate together for transit funding and key legislation at the federal, state and local level.

We will continue to keep you updated on news and developments out of NATA.  In the meantime, feel free to visit https://natransitalliance.org for additional information.  Kudos to Ruth Otte, Mitun Seguin and Christopher Aiello who designed and built NATA’s website.
