As we continue to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, Transdev is proud to highlight Victor Garate, General Manager for the Transdev LA ACCESS paratransit contract in Antelope Valley, California.
Victor started working in transit over 20 years ago while he was a college student. His first job was answering phone calls and helping passengers as a customer service representative. Later, he became a dispatcher and moved his way up to serving as the General Manager. Because he worked in different roles, he understands the needs of both paratransit passengers and employees. He uses that knowledge every day to help his team improve transit service. Victor also believes in helping his team grow professionally. He encourages them to sign up for training often and helps them shape their careers by regularly sharing growth opportunities as they become available.
Victor is always eager to learn and grow. He recently finished the LIT Leadership Academy, where he gained new skills to become a stronger leader and to support his team better. His Hispanic heritage means a lot to him. His parents taught him the value of hard work and perseverance. Victor looks up to his father, who was a respected leader in their community, and works to follow in his footsteps.
Victor shares advice to future leaders who are seeking to grow at Transdev, sharing, “Take every chance to learn. Tell your manager you want to grow. Look for scholarships and keep learning new things.”
Victor wants to keep learning and growing at Transdev. He hopes to keep improving and helping others along the way. Outside of work at Transdev, he coaches sports and is active in his church. He enjoys giving back to his community.
Transdev is proud to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and our amazing employees living their Purpose!
